About Alison Priest
Hi! My name is Alison and I am excited to be in my second year as your Region 5 Director!
A few things about me:
I am a past PTA President at Butler Creek Elementary. I live in Gresham with my husband Chad, and our two children, Nicholas and Courtney, who are both students at Butler Creek. I am a Pharmacy Technician at Target and am living proof that you can work full time, spend time with your family, be involved with the PTA and have an outside life!! It is possible! I love to read, spend time with my family, bake, and anything else to keep myself busy. I collect cows and carousel horses. I am involved with Masonic Organizations, both adult and youth oriented.
Interesting facts about Region 5:
There are 12 schools that have a PTA or a PTSA out of the 70+ public schools in this region. There are 5 districts represented: Centennial, Corbett, David Douglas, Hood River and Reynolds.
Goals for this year:
1. Have local units increase their membership,
2. Make sure all units have a parent involvement program in place,
3. Keep all units informed with a newsletter going out every month, through email or snail mail, which will include any important State, National PTA and Region 5 news,
4. Let schools without a PTA know about us and all the good work we do by sending a flyer to their booster/parent clubs,
5. Network with all the schools on what activities and programs they do and bring that information to other units.
I am really excited to be your Region 5 Director and I know that we are all going to have a great year! I am here as your resource and guide. The best way to reach me is through email, so if you need anything, please don't hesitate!!

Region 5 News
Happy New Year!! Well, not really, but it is a new fiscal year!
There are a few things that you should be focusing on prior to coming back together again in September:
1. Financial Audits should start happening
2. Attend a Leadership Training Camp
(Click the events tab at the top of the page)
3. Install your new officers
4. Enter your new officers online (to make sure your president gets the PTA Back to School kit)
5. Start planning your year-membership drives, reflection plans, etc.
6. Update procedure books (or start them if you don't have them yet)

The 2008-2009 Reflection Theme is: Wow!
I challenge every PTA to start this awesome arts program! It can be as simple as sending out a flyer about it to all students and parents to holding after school programs and providing students with resources. Lets give our students an opportunity to show off their artistic abilities! If there are alot of entries this year from Region 5, we can hold a Regional Reflections Showcase so all of our communities can see some great art! Region 5 has not had any Reflection entries for a couple years, so it's time we get back on track!
Have a GREAT summer and we will see each other at Leadership Camp!!
Remember if you need anything, I am just an email away!
