2009-2010 Theme: "Beauty Is.."
Oregon PTA’s Reflections Program is designed to enhance
a quality arts education for students in grades K-12. Over
the years this program has encouraged millions of students,
nationwide, to explore their artistic talents. Our program
helps parents encourage the creativity and lifelong learning
of their children. It provides opportunities for children
to express themselves in their own way, and it provides
opportunities to recognize our children’s artistic
endeavors.
Our Reflections program begins at the local PTA unit, which
sponsors the program in its school. Works are selected at
the local unit to proceed to the Council/Region level. From
there works are selected and submitted to Oregon PTA, and
some of these works are submitted to the National PTA. At
every level, all of the artists receive recognition and
awards. Parents, teachers and community members all play
a critical role in fostering this positive learning experience.
This year our Reflections Program will include works from
eight areas of the cultural arts, six of which are National
categories, and two of which are State ones. The six National
categories are: Literature, Musical Composition, Photography,
Visual Arts, Dance Choreography and Film/Video Production.
The two State categories are: Theater and Three-dimensional
Visual Arts.
Visit the new National PTA Reflection's website - www.ptareflections.org. It is an amazing site, with all the forms, ideas, checklists, etc., that you may need.
